Thayne receives updates on storage tank, waterline and sidewalk projects; SLIB funding date set

Sunrise Engineering reported that the town secured a site for a storage tank and completed geotechnical drilling; the North Waterline easement work continues and a SLIB funding increase will be considered Feb. 1, 2018; Wright and Van Noy sidewalk environmental responses are nearly complete.
Robert Hood of Sunrise Engineering briefed the Thayne Town Council on Jan. 18 about a package of infrastructure projects.
Storage tank: Hood said Don Brown confirmed he will sell the property needed for a storage tank and that geotechnical drilling was completed last week; the town will begin structural design after it receives the soil report. He said recoating specifications for the existing tank are about 75 percent complete but that old paint will need testing for lead.
North Waterline Replacement: Hood reported that Kevin Voyles is still finalizing easements; the town plans to submit a funding-increase request to the State Lands and Investments Board, which is scheduled for Feb. 1, 2018.
Wright and Van Noy sidewalks: Environmental responses are about 90 percent complete and the project survey is finished, Hood said.
What’s next: The town will await the geotechnical report before advancing structural design for the tank and continue easement work and SLIB coordination for the waterline project.
