Thayne council approves Hokanson Avenue annexation; OKs routine purchases and bills

Mayor A. DeLand Lainhart convened the Thayne Town Council on Jan. 18 and the council approved Ordinance 329 on second reading to annex Hokanson Avenue.

The annexation public meeting drew no oral or written comments, Mayor Lainhart said, and Councilman Heward moved to adopt Ordinance 329 on second reading; Councilman Woolley seconded and the motion carried. Mayor Lainhart later reported that Don Brown confirmed he will sell the parcel needed for the town’s storage tank and agreed to annex the front portion of his property and the tank property, tying it to Meadows and Bear Hollow; Kevin Voyles is handling annexation details.

Why it matters: The ordinance brings property at Hokanson Avenue into Thayne’s municipal limits and sets up a property transaction and related infrastructure work the town is planning.

The council moved into executive session at 6:09 p.m. and returned at 6:27 p.m.; no action was taken in executive session. The meeting adjourned at 6:57 p.m.

The council scheduled a budget work session for March 8, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. for further discussion of upcoming budget matters.
