Thayne seeks $176,000 from SLIB to cover expanded North Waterline work

The Town of Thayne on Dec. 21 opened a public meeting about the Thayne North Waterline Project and its request to the State Land and Investment Board (SLIB) for an additional $176,000 to cover alignment changes and added pipe footage related to a future highway widening.
Mayor A. DeLand Lainhart said the project scope now includes replacing the waterline north of town on the east side of Highway 89, replacing the line to the sewer lagoons and adding the Heap Drive waterline. The town told the board the loan amount would be 25 percent of project costs — cited as $124,000 — at 2.5 percent interest for 20 years, with an estimated annual payment of $12,445 if the full amount is used. Lainhart said the town does not anticipate a rate increase tied to this project.
A town resident, Mr. Lawton, asked whether the plan could include looping the new line down Roberts Street to address a current low-pressure concern there. Lainhart responded that a planned new water storage tank, scheduled to start construction in the spring, should resolve pressure problems on Roberts Street.
No written public comments on the funding request were received and the town recorded no formal objections during the session. Copies of project materials are maintained at Thayne Town Hall.
