Stone Park trustees approve plumbing contract, bills and pavilion rates; set Easter Egg Hunt date

The Village of Stone Park Board of Trustees approved a $57,700 plumbing contract, authorized $131,595.60 in bills and adopted new pavilion rental rates at a meeting on Jan. 27, 2026 at Stone Park Village Hall.
The board began at 6:26 p.m. and first approved the minutes of the Committee and Board meeting held on Jan. 13, 2026. Trustee Marco T. Paz moved to approve the minutes and Trustee Simplisio Roman seconded; a roll-call vote recorded Ayes from Trustees Loretta J. Teets, Marco A. Gutierrez, Sylvia Terrazas, Marco T. Paz, Nazario Garcia and Simplisio Roman.
Clerk Laura Cassidy-Hatchet noted the village corrected an omission in the 2024 minutes binder and described materials received from the Illinois Municipal League. "Mr. Cole also provided the Village with 400 coloring books to be distributed in backpacks for the upcoming Back to School Event," Cassidy-Hatchet said, and she added that copies of the Illinois Municipal Education Resource were placed on the table for board members.
On building and grounds business, trustees approved the 2026 Special Events Calendar with an amended date of March 28, 2026, for the Easter Egg Hunt (motion by Trustee Loretta J. Teets; second by Trustee Sylvia Terrazas; roll-call vote: unanimous Aye). The board also approved Vision Constructions' recommendation to accept Aqua Bella Plumbing, Inc.'s bid for $57,700 to perform the specified plumbing work (motion by Teets; second by Trustee Marco T. Paz; roll-call vote: unanimous Aye).
In finance matters, Trustee Marco A. Gutierrez presented expenditures for the period Jan. 13, 2025 through Jan. 27, 2026 totaling $131,595.60, broken down as $68,824.73 (General Fund), $518.03 (Motor Fuel Transportation fund), and $62,252.84 (Water Fund). The board approved payment of the bills (motion by Gutierrez; second by Teets; roll-call vote: unanimous Aye). Gutierrez also moved to approve JS Plumbing and Rooter Invoice #INV0209 for $2,000 (second by Trustee Nazario Garcia) and to adopt the 2026 pavilion rental rates; both motions passed with unanimous Ayes.
Mayor Beniamino Mazzulla reported he conducted a walkthrough of the pavilion and that he and the clerk met with Illinois Senate President Don Harmon to discuss grant requests; he said a construction grant for a new police station is awaiting approval. The board adjourned at approximately 6:50 p.m. after a motion by Trustee Marco A. Gutierrez and a second by Trustee Sylvia Terrazas, approved by voice vote.
