Township approves Local Waste Services collection agreement and Rumpke recycling processing

Norwich Township trustees voted to approve solid-waste and recyclable processing contracts as part of the Consortium III procurement for 2022–2026.
Administrator Jamie Fisher reviewed two bidding groups and recommended selecting Local Waste Services’ Part I(B) option that includes a hauler-provided trash container for $20.99 per month (an increase from the township's prior $14.70 monthly rate). The agreement includes a quarterly billing charge of $1.95 and an arrangement whereby Local Waste Services will collect and contract with Rumpke to process recycling. Trustees approved the Local Waste Services collection agreement and the Rumpke recyclable materials agreement by roll call.
Why it matters: the contract will change the countywide trash and recycling billing and includes a notable increase in the monthly service rate. Mrs. Fisher said Local Waste will continue collection and Rumpke will process recyclables; residents will continue to receive a single bill from the existing hauler.
Votes and approvals: trustees approved the Franklin County Township Resurfacing Program bid and both collection and processing agreements; motions recorded in the meeting minutes passed unanimously.
