Norwich trustees approve two grass-nuisance resolutions and a grave buyback, cemetery sexton outlines Memorial Day plans

The Norwich Township Board of Trustees approved two resolutions finding grass conditions to be a nuisance at separate properties and authorized follow-up action as provided under township policy.

Administrator Jamie Fisher explained the township's grass-nuisance process and said Norwich historically provides property owners seven days to comply even though a resolution authorizes cutting after four days. Fisher said she is awaiting resources from Sue Howson at the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging to include with mailed notices to property owners.

The board adopted resolutions for 6435 Renner Road (Columbus) and 4165 Saturn Road (Hilliard). Trustee Brian Rothenberg moved to approve each resolution; both motions were seconded by Trustee Trish Barker and recorded as passed (Motions #260519.03 and #260519.04). The minutes do not include the full text of the notices or any fines; they record the board's approvals.

Cemetery Sexton Robbie Thomas also presented and the board approved a grave buyback request from Richard P. Long Jr. for a grave purchased April 4, 2023 (Block D, Lot 39, Grave 3) for the original purchase price of $700; the motion passed (Motion #260519.02). Thomas reminded the board of the Memorial Day ceremony on May 25, 2026 and said he will set up a podium, a microphone system, and a tent for the event.

Next steps: Administrator Fisher will include aging-services resources in mailed letters to property owners when available and the township will proceed with enforcement actions as authorized by the adopted resolutions.
