South Bloomfield sets summer community events and schedules paternity-leave follow-up

The Village of South Bloomfield council finalized several community event dates and asked staff to return with personnel policy options.
Councilmember Dena Cobb announced village garage-sale dates for June 6–7 and Aug. 8–9 and dumpster days for June 13–14 and Aug. 15–16. Amber Murphy presented the Movie Nights schedule (June 6; June 28; July 25; Aug. 8) and reported the movie poll selected Inside Out, Despicable Me 4, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Mufasa. Murphy and Lisa McDorman said they are not available for the Aug. 8 screening; Mayor Aaron Thomas and Woody Blanton volunteered to staff concessions that evening.
Murphy asked the council to revisit paternity leave, a topic previously tabled, because a village officer now occupies a post for whom the policy would be relevant. The council directed Fiscal Officer Alisha Burke to contact Kris to collect policy options and return the information for discussion at the next council meeting.
The council also set Halloween Movie Night for Oct. 24, 2025, and Halloween Fest for Oct. 25, 2025 to allow the movie vendor to be scheduled in a timely way. These items were approved as agenda additions earlier in the meeting and carried on motions recorded in the minutes.
