Resident raises dispute over Coon Road maintenance; board to inspect markers

During public comment on May 6, resident Herb Olsen told the Otisfield Select Board that the central portion of Coon Road was voted unmaintained and said he believes the town is also not maintaining the north end, which he recalled being plowed 20–30 years ago. Olsen said it is unclear where town responsibility begins and ends because markers are inaccurate or missing.
Chairman Hal Ferguson responded that he will examine the marker(s) to determine their message and said signage should be installed at each end of the non-maintained portion to clarify responsibility. The chairman advised residents with questions to contact the Town Office or Select Board for clarification.
Chief Jordan asked the board to refrain from removing any signage used for E911 addresses because those signs assist first responders. The board did not take a formal enforcement vote at the meeting; the chairman indicated an inspection would precede any further action.
