Chief Jordan reported to the Otisfield Select Board on May 6 that Senator Collins is supportive of the Fire Department's initiative and will advance the request to the Appropriations Committee for consideration in the fiscal year 2027 budget. The chief said the department has been exceptionally active this year, recording 49 calls, and has completed a transition from its prior records-management software to an upgraded system.
The report was delivered during the department-heads portion of the meeting; board members did not take a separate vote on a funding authorization at the session. The chief’s update established that the department is seeking external funding and that a state legislator has agreed to carry the request to the next stage of review.
Board members did not debate details of the request at length during the meeting. The next procedural steps for any appropriation would depend on action by the Appropriations Committee and subsequent budget processes at the state level.
