Select Board appoints Arthur Goldberg and Amy Leibowitz to Affordable Housing Trust

The Wellesley Select Board voted unanimously on April 7, 2026, to appoint Arthur Goldberg and Amy Leibowitz to the Wellesley Affordable Housing Trust, with terms running through June 30, 2028.

Kenneth Largess, the Select Board’s designated member to the Affordable Housing Trust, summarized the candidate selection process and said five or six residents expressed interest. Largess told the Board that he and AHT Chair Micah O’Neill interviewed candidates and recommended the two names for full-board consideration.

Largess described Arthur Goldberg as having "extensive professional experience in affordable housing matters, notably as counsel for the City of Cambridge." He described Amy Leibowitz as a long-time Wellesley community volunteer whose marketing experience and familiarity with resident perspectives would be valuable to the Trust. Executive Director Meghan Jop reminded the Board that the AHT bylaw requires appointed members to have "complementary skills." Select Board member Colette Aufranc said she supported the appointments but urged that the Board follow the town’s Appointment Policy more closely during the upcoming appointment season.

Upon a motion by Select Board member Colette Aufranc, seconded by Thomas Ulfelder, the Board voted 5-0 to appoint Leibowitz and Goldberg to the AHT, with terms to expire on June 30, 2028. No minutes were available for review at the meeting; the Board briefly discussed expectations for progress on Annual Town Meeting articles on night four but took no action on those items.

The appointments add two members to the Trust; the Board did not discuss budgetary or programmatic details for the Trust at the April 7 meeting.
