The Chebeague Island School Committee held a workshop with consultant Dr. Andrew Dolloff Aug. 23, 2022, meeting from 4:35 to 5:53 p.m. The session reviewed policies that define the committee’s role and discussed examples of interactions committee members may face when speaking in public.
Committee Chair Jeff Putnam and members Courtney Doughty, Elizabeth Doughty and Nancy Earnest introduced themselves to Dr. Dolloff. Superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick also attended. Dr. Dolloff provided handouts about committee responsibilities and led a conversation about appropriate responses and boundaries for members who encounter questions or criticisms while acting in a public setting.
The workshop focused on practical scenarios and best practices intended to help committee members stay within policy and maintain clear lines between governance and administration. The committee adjourned the workshop at 5:53 p.m. and reconvened for the regular meeting at 6:05 p.m.
