Litchfield Conservation Commission plans September riparian outreach with regional partners

The Litchfield Conservation Commission agreed on April 28 to organize a public riparian-zone education event after Labor Day in September, working with the Litchfield Land Trust, Sustainable Litchfield, Planning & Zoning, the Inland Wetlands Commission, and the Rivers Alliance. The Commission identified property owners along the Bantam, West Branch Bantam and Shepaug rivers as the target audience and asked the Chair to coordinate date and venue with the Community Center and partner organizations.
Commission members said the September event will focus outreach and technical information for riparian landowners and the general public. To concentrate resources on that event and the forthcoming Open Space Plan Town meeting, the Commission withdrew its CFPA statewide trails-day registration for a June 6 family scavenger hunt and assigned Diane to notify CFPA and Town Parks staff.
Next steps: Commission members will confirm a date and venue, coordinate partner outreach and publicity, and develop an outreach list for landowners along priority waterways.
