Penfield unveils five-year strategic plan, pledges community-centered goals

Penfield Central School District leaders presented the district's five-year strategic plan, "Boldly Penfield: future focused together," at the June 9 board meeting and described the rollout and next steps.

The plan centers on four goals: (1) educational excellence and a student-centered curriculum, (2) a supportive and inclusive school climate, (3) high-quality staff and professional learning, and (4) student-centered operational excellence and resource stewardship. District leaders said priorities tied to each goal are organized as numbered priorities (for example, 1.1, 1.2) that will be turned into actionable plans.

Superintendent and cabinet members said the plan was developed in partnership with students, staff, families and community members and highlighted student voices captured on poster boards and in a launch video to be posted on the district website. The district said action-plan drafting will occur over the summer and that fall 2026 will begin visible implementation steps; the district also promised periodic public updates on progress toward goals.

Board members praised the community engagement and thanked staff who led the design and communications work. The plan describes the district's commitment to equitable, culturally responsive instruction, inclusive systems for mental health and belonging, intentional recruitment and professional learning for staff, and efficient operations to support student outcomes.

The presentation included examples of student and staff testimonials and noted that next year some dual-credit courses will be available without the usual fee. The transcript records applause and supportive comments from board members and attendees.

The plan launch signals the district's roadmap for the next five years; the district will publish the plan materials and video on its website.
