Lebanon Township swears in officials, names Brian Wunder mayor and confirms 2025 appointments

Lebanon Township’s reorganization meeting on Jan. 3 opened with oaths of office for newly elected committee members and the formal installation of Brian Wunder as mayor.

Wunder was nominated by a fellow committee member and sworn in before the body. In remarks after the oath, Mayor Brian Wunder said his priorities for 2025 include public safety and security, improving municipal infrastructure, installing a security camera recording system and addressing hazardous roadside trees; he said the committee will pursue grants or consider a bond if necessary. "My basic agenda is fight, fight, fight for security," Wunder said.

Committee members offered public thanks to outgoing or recently serving officials, and multiple members praised township staff, singling out Clerk Carolyn Budd for her work. A newly elected committee member thanked residents for voting them into office and pledged to work for all constituents regardless of party.

The committee approved the mayor’s slate of appointments and annual role assignments by roll call, including municipal and advisory panels (board of health, historians, library commission, park committee, planning board and board of adjustment), and one-year municipal roles. The mayor’s list assigned Carolyn Budd multiple administrative positions, including municipal purchasing agent, housing liaison, public safety compliance officer and recycling coordinator for 2025. The body voted to confirm board and commission membership and the municipal role appointments.

The committee opened public comment with a three-minute limit per speaker and held a second public comment period later in the meeting; no members of the public spoke during the sessions.

The meeting adjourned after the committee completed its business and returned from a short executive session to take final action on a personnel/contract resolution.
