Administrator updates: Vista Point police calls, Mahtomedi Avenue progress and Hwy 120 delay

City Administrator Scott Neilson told the council that he, the mayor and representatives of the sheriff’s office met with management from Real Estate Equities (owner of Vista Point) regarding the number of police calls at that apartment building and scheduled monthly follow-up meetings to address the issue.
City Engineer Nick Guilliams said one-on-one meetings with residents along the Mahtomedi Avenue construction corridor have been mostly positive. Utility relocation work is ongoing and physical construction is expected to begin this summer; property-acquisition letters (temporary and permanent easements) will be mailed in June. Guilliams said the Hwy 120 project has been formally delayed until 2028, though limited utility work could occur in 2027 that would not affect the main construction schedule.
