Committee to convert July meeting into workshop to plan affordable housing department

Committee members agreed to turn the July meeting into a workshop (scheduled for July 10) to develop proposals for an affordable housing department, including staffing, job descriptions and strategic priorities.
Chairman Fred Hamilton said the town is exploring creation of an affordable housing department and asked the committee for input on staffing, job descriptions and how the department could function. "We are looking into affordable housing department, so we're gonna look for the next step," he said, and asked members to submit thoughts to staff.
Members suggested a short strategic workshop. Staff proposed converting the July meeting into a workshop and, because the July 4 meeting is canceled for the holiday, the group agreed to meet on July 10 to begin planning. "Can we do that for July? Turn July meeting into a workshop?" a staff member asked; members responded that the date would work.
The committee did not adopt a final structure or staffing plan at the meeting; instead members directed staff to collect ideas, invite partners and return with proposed job descriptions and an outline for the department at the next session.
