CCRPC approves Business Office Associate job description, defers Equity & Engagement Manager wording

The Joint Finance & Executive Committee approved the Business Office Associate job description on March 2, 2022, and deferred approval of the Equity and Engagement Manager description pending revision.
Charlie Baker reviewed both position descriptions authorized in the recently approved budget. For the Equity and Engagement Manager description, staff worked with consultant Creative Discourse to craft responsibilities that included convening regional leaders, developing internal and external engagement strategies, and uplifting BIPOC organizations. Committee members, including Mike O’Brien, Chris Shaw and Bard Hill, expressed concern that some wording — specifically reference to “global majority” — might inadvertently narrow the applicant pool. Members asked for language that would make the position feel open to all qualified candidates while retaining the equity focus.
Charlie said the application deadline would be extended to March 25, 2022, and he planned to present a revised Equity and Engagement Manager job description at the April Executive Committee meeting. The committee voted to approve only the Business Office Associate job description at this meeting.
