Commission places contract renewals, lighting agreement, license and appointments on April 13 agenda

Tift County staff told the Board on April 7 they will seek approval at the April 13 meeting for several routine renewals, a lighting services agreement and multiple personnel and licensing items.
Public Safety Director Joey Fowler said the proposed three‑year Everbridge mass notification contract would run July 1, 2026–June 30, 2029 for a total cost of $48,355.95 ("billed annually in the amount of $16,118.65"), and that the county's current Stryker ProCare agreement covers preventative maintenance on 27 pieces of medical/rescue equipment at a program cost of $105,819.90 payable in three annual installments of $35,273.30. "The agreement includes unlimited repairs, parts, batteries and labor," Fowler said. The Board indicated a desire to place both items on the Consent Agenda.
County Manager Jim Carter said Georgia Power would install equipment and underground conductors for lighting at the EB Hamilton parking lot at an upfront cost of $66,768.37 and an estimated monthly cost of $889; the board signaled support to place that agreement on the Consent Agenda.
County Clerk Miriam Jordan said Ann L. Smith has applied for an alcohol beverage license for a new Kangaroo Express at 1054 U.S. Highway 82 E and that the application has been forwarded to the Sheriff for review; Jordan said this item will be on the Regular Agenda. Jordan also identified applicants for two appointments: Mark Stone for the Region 4 Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities advisory council (recruited in part by Commissioner Tyler Riddle), and three candidates (Meredith Rutland, Ken Dunn and Jessica White) for a vacancy on the Tifton‑Tift County Tourism Board created when Pat Welker moved out of county.
Arts and community organizations also appeared at the work session: Georgia Smith of the Tifton Council for the Arts and Chelsea Webster asked the commission to consider the council as a line item in the county budget for children's engagement and education programs. Evan Brown of Oasis Recovery Center introduced himself and Commissioner Melissa Hughes noted Oasis is hosting headshot sessions April 14–15.
Most of these items were flagged for the April 13 meeting; no formal votes occurred during the work session.
