Tift County to add cameras and pursue Phase 2 paving at EB Hamilton Sports Complex

IT Director Al Stephenson told the Board that a camera system is required at the EB Hamilton Sports Complex to improve safety for players, coaches, fans and recreation staff. He noted Avigilon Systems was selected as the county's preferred camera vendor in 2020 and that MCA will install the system; the proposed package includes cameras and a storage server with a five‑year parts warranty and next‑business‑day service. Stephenson said the cost is $121,507.43 and that funding would come from SPLOST VI.
County Manager Jim Carter said Phase 1B of EB Hamilton upgrades is nearing completion and that project expenses came in $1,077,977.51 under the approved funding amount, creating a surplus. He described Phase 2 as paving a large grass field at the corner of EB Hamilton Drive and Rutland Road. Carter said Tift County would self‑perform site preparation, drainage and base application at an estimated cost of $448,683; the remaining work is estimated at $837,651, with engineering estimated at $88,615.60, for a total estimated Phase 2 cost of $1,374,949.60.
The Board indicated it would place both the camera procurement and the Phase 2 engineering addendum on the March 9 consent agenda. The work session record does not show a formal vote; packet materials and the March 9 meeting will contain the specific contract and funding documents if the Board approves the items.
