City Secretary Laura Welch administered oaths of office at the Hallsville City Council meeting on Oct. 21, 2025, swearing in Mayor Jesse Casey and three aldermen: Charlie Hunt, Lauren Bresch and newly appointed Alderwoman Lara Hood. Family members of officers participated in a badge-pinning ceremony for the police department, and Welch also administered the Oath of Office to the police chief, sergeant and patrol officers.
The swearing-in and badge pinning were purely ceremonial actions carried out at the start of the regular meeting in Council Chambers, 201 Willow Street. No votes were required for the pinning; the council later handled administrative and policy items on the agenda.
The council convened at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 6:32 p.m. with the oaths and pinning completed before substantive agenda items began.
