Pittstown board declares highway equipment surplus and approves dump body replacement for truck #17

Pittstown — The Town Board of the Town of Pittstown on May 11 unanimously approved declaring a list of highway vehicles and equipment surplus and accepted a vendor quote to replace the dump body on truck #17, the board said.
Supervisor Matthew Curley opened the meeting and the board voted on a motion from Council member Jason Eddy, seconded by Council member Robert Russell, to declare multiple pieces of highway equipment surplus and authorize them to be put out to bid on Auctions International. The surplus list includes a 2014 Dodge Ram 3500; a 1999 International tandem dump truck; 2006 and 2012 International 7400 single-axle dump trucks; a 2003 Hudson landscape trailer; a Wolfpack roller; a Land Pride three-point scraper blade; a 10-foot 7-yard gas-powered sander; a Cub Cadet lawn mower; and two 14-foot four-season dump bodies (Everest and Heil).
The board also addressed an immediate equipment repair: Highway Superintendent Paul Campbell said the dump body on truck #17 is beyond economical repair and "too expensive to fix." The board, on a motion by Supervisor Curley and seconded by Erin Maxon, accepted a quote from T&T Sales for a replacement dump body for the Dodge 3500 at a cost not to exceed $10,297; that motion passed with all members voting aye.
Campbell told the board a new truck is expected to be delivered to Albany this week and noted that wet conditions have made road work difficult. The surplus declaration will allow the highway department to dispose of older equipment by auction, the board indicated.
The board handled the motions during routine business and recorded unanimous votes on the surplus declaration and the dump body purchase. Next steps include posting the surplus items for bid on Auctions International and processing the purchase order with T&T Sales for the dump body.
