Trails group announces June 19 grant site visit, outlines Bear Trap Meadow and connecting trail plans

Austin Burgess, speaking for the Central Army Trails Alliance, told the Natrona Board of Trustees and staff that the grant-writing team’s site visit for an outdoor recreation grant will take place June 19, with an on-site window aimed at showing proposed shelter placements and trail corridors.
Burgess described the Bear Trap Meadow component as roughly 1 to 1.5 miles of beginner-level trail with an adaptive element and a crushed-stone tread designed to avoid encroaching on meadow habitat. He said the alignment would connect with trails in nearby Deer Haven and the Caster Mountain system but would not cross onto city property.
Burgess asked trustees to attend the June 19 site visit (his stated window was 1–3 p.m.) and said volunteers and partners including the Wyoming Conservation Corps would support trail construction and maintenance. He also reported work at Rotary Park (vegetation removal and graffiti mitigation) and said the Crimson Dawn Trail is more than halfway complete, with finishing work ongoing and projected completion the following Wednesday, subject to water being available at the dry site.
Burgess spoke repeatedly about coordination with staff on shelter placement and alignment; Michael (staff) was listed as a point of contact for siting and future project coordination.
