Rawlins County Economic Development Vice-President Kelsey Wahrman told commissioners on June 1 that RCED is seeking $40,000 from the City of Atwood and $40,000 from Rawlins County for its 2027 budget. Wahrman said the RCED board hired Ella Eidson as interim director for the summer and that Eidson is interested in the permanent director post after graduating in December 2026.
Extension Director Aaron Hyland presented the Extension Office's 2027 budget request and gave an overview of 2025 activities and preparations for the county fair set for July. Commissioners did not take action on the budget requests during the meeting; budgets will proceed through the county's regular budget process.
Both presenters answered brief procedural questions but did not request a specific county appropriation amount beyond RCED's stated $40,000 ask. Commissioners acknowledged the requests and will consider them in upcoming budget deliberations.
