Police report shows January calls down from 2025; seized SRO car sent for evaluation, new part-time officer to be sworn March 3

Police Chief Michael Swanson told the Safety Committee that a council member requested monthly call counts be reported during Council meetings and that the department will prepare totals for the second meeting of each month going forward. He gave January figures of 887 calls in 2026, 1,100 in 2025 and 996 in 2024.
Swanson updated the committee on the status of a seized Dodge Charger previously used as the school-resource-officer vehicle. He said the BBH vocational education program performed extensive work on the car but cannot complete remaining repairs or retain it. The vehicle is being transferred to Ganley in Aurora for evaluation at no cost to the village to determine whether computer components can be made to work together.
Swanson also announced that Jacqueline Schuld will be sworn in as a new part-time officer at the March 3 Council meeting. He described Schuld as a lateral transfer who previously served in Beachwood and most recently worked with the Pharmacy Board; Swanson said she has a degree and considerable experience that will suit the department.
The minutes list attendance and other meeting items but record no formal police-related votes.
