Marlboro County Council approves USDA grant reimbursement for two sheriff vehicles

Marlboro County Council voted unanimously Oct. 1 to accept grant funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program to support the purchase of two sheriff vehicles.
Tianna McCollough, a loan specialist with USDA Rural Development, presented the Letter of Conditions to council members and said the grant totals $89,500, with reimbursement to Marlboro County not to exceed $49,200 through the agency’s Rural Housing Service (RHS). McCollough said the county has six months to complete the grant requirements, after which USDA staff will visit the site and document compliance. The grant documents are to be executed by Chairman Anthony Woods and Clerk Susan E. Rivers.
Council member Jason Steen moved to approve Resolution #09-24-01, which authorizes acceptance of the USDA grant funding for the purchase of two sheriff vehicles; the motion was seconded and the council voted unanimously to adopt the resolution. The meeting, held at the council chambers of the Economic Development Partnership Building, lasted about five minutes. Following the vote on the resolution the council moved to adjourn; the meeting ended at 3:35 p.m.
