Northfield officials praise Finance Director Jennifer Potvin after successful audit; Potvin signals retirement

Finance Director and Clerk Jennifer Potvin on Sept. 10 told council she had no report beyond asking whether anyone had questions about a budget amendment on the agenda and noted the village’s successful audit.
Several councilmembers and department heads praised Potvin’s work. Councilmember Alan Hipps congratulated her on the excellent audit; Fire Chief Jason Buss called her "the best Finance Director the Village has had in his 26‑year tenure," and several other members and department heads echoed that sentiment. Potvin thanked the Mayor and staff, said the audit is a great way to end her career and described her long service to the Village, saying she has "a lot of love for the Village and its employees and officials."
Council and staff repeatedly urged Potvin to reconsider retirement; the minutes record appreciation and recognition but do not record a formal resignation date. Mayor Jenn Domzalski thanked Potvin for her service and reminded the council the next meeting is Oct. 8. The meeting adjourned at 8:04 p.m.
