Northfield council approves $50,247.88 security camera system for Fire Station

Councilmember Gary Vojtush moved to accept the quote; Councilmember Renell Noack seconded. A roll call vote was unanimous (Zach Hebebrand, Renell Noack, Gary Vojtush, Nick Magistrelli, Alan Hipps and Kevin Lewis voted yes).
Fire Chief Jason Buss told council the proposed system would capture all four sides of the building and reach out onto State Route 8. He described the purchase as a response to recent damage to the station’s trash dumpster enclosure; "The trash collection contractor has denied causing the damage," Buss said. The minutes record that the existing camera coverage did not include the dumpster area, prompting the purchase request.
The motion authorizes the Mayor to accept the B&C Communications quote; the minutes record no further conditions or amendments. Chief Buss also reminded attendees that tickets for the department’s Clambake on Sept. 18 are available from the Fire Department.
Implementation steps in the minutes are limited to the authorization: the council vote approved procurement at the quoted amount and did not specify an installation timeline or funding line-item beyond the motion.
