Anna Purdy sworn in as Burbank mayor; council approves training, prosecutor payment and hotspot trial

At the Feb. 5 meeting Mayor Anna Purdy was sworn in. Council approved payment for a prosecuting-attorney invoice, authorized training expenses for the mayor and fiscal officer, and agreed to test a Verizon hotspot at Village Hall for meeting access.
Solicitor Allan Michelson administered the oath to Anna Purdy at the Feb. 5 Village of Burbank council meeting; Purdy had been interim mayor and was elected in November 2025.
Council approved routine administrative items including payment of the Wayne County prosecuting attorney invoice for $1,038.02 (motion by Terry Moore, seconded by Jay Byler; 4 ayes). Terry moved and the council approved $100 plus expenses for Mayor Purdy to attend a March 13 training for newly elected mayors. The council also authorized expenses for Fiscal Officer Gary Harris to attend required Ethics training; Gary said he will split costs with adjacent Chippewa Lake.
Councilmember Jay Byler proposed testing a Verizon hotspot at Village Hall to allow residents to view meetings remotely; he said the service would cost about $110 per month and asked to run a trial. Solicitor Allan Michelson noted neighboring Chippewa Lake streams meetings on YouTube but that the village may need sound and Wi‑Fi upgrades to do the same; Gary Harris agreed to share Chippewa Lake contact information for follow-up.
The swearing-in and administrative approvals were carried unanimously and handled as routine business.
