Burbank council awards three-year waste-hauling contract to Kimble

The Village of Burbank council voted Feb. 5 to award a three-year waste-hauling contract to Kimble after discussing pricing and whether the Village should pay residents’ collection costs.
Fiscal Officer Gary Harris told the council that if the Village absorbed the service the total cost would range "between $57,600 to $61,414 over three years," depending on the contractor chosen. Gary also cautioned that the Village is facing continuing infrastructure needs that will draw on General Fund dollars in coming years.
Cathy Kopp, speaking on behalf of residents who responded to a Facebook survey, said "the majority wanted to remain with Kimble." Council thanked both bidding contractors for participating and rejected a proposal to have the Village pay residents’ hauling expenses. Jay Byler moved to award the three-year contract to Kimble; Terry Moore seconded and the motion carried on a 4–0 vote.
The contract award concludes the vendor-selection portion of a multi-step budgeting discussion. Council materials distributed before the meeting showed monthly and year-end budget reports and a packet of potential grant options the body may consider at its March meeting.
