The Chebeague Island School Committee approved several routine and substantive motions during its Aug. 2 meeting.
The committee unanimously approved the meeting agenda and the July 12, 2022 minutes. Courtney Doughty moved to approve the agenda; Elizabeth Doughty seconded. Elizabeth Doughty moved to approve the July 12 minutes; Courtney Doughty seconded. Both motions passed 3-0-0.
The committee then voted 3-0-0 to authorize the Superintendent to proceed with two facilities projects: an oil tank project with contractor Jon Rich and a water-treatment project with Carol White. Courtney Doughty moved the authorization; Elizabeth Doughty seconded. The motion did not specify project costs or a start date; the committee is awaiting formal approval for the water-treatment plan before work begins.
Finally, the committee unanimously authorized the Superintendent to offer Mandy Metrano a teaching contract for the 2022–2023 school year. Elizabeth Doughty moved to give that authority; Courtney Doughty seconded. The motion states Ms. Metrano will teach art for up to four hours per week.
