Council member Paul Marnecheck moved to include the recommended tree list; the motion passed. Vice Chair Mary Gorjanc said Cuyahoga Soil and Water’s Meg Hennessy suggested removing some species from the current list and recommended a separate list of species residents should avoid because they tend to be invasive. Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz said staff would review the list, ensure updates are printed and consider how to make homeowner guidance available at City Hall or on the city website.
Members agreed that tree-lawn (public right-of-way) recommendations differ from private-land plantings and that the city can provide informational guidance rather than mandates.
