At its meeting, the Winthrop School Board unanimously approved second readings of multiple district policies and confirmed the district physician nomination.
The policies approved on second reading included ECB (Pest Management); JLCB (Immunization of Students); JICA (Weapons, Violence and School Safety); JFC (Dropout Prevention, Student Withdrawal from School); and EA series policies related to student transportation and drug-and-alcohol testing of school bus drivers and related administrative procedures. The motion to approve was moved, seconded and carried unanimously.
The board also approved the annual nomination of Jennifer McConnell to serve as the district physician, a recurring appointment used by school nurses and administrators for consults; the motion carried unanimously.
No substantive changes from first readings were reported during the meeting. The approvals were routine procedural votes recorded during the board's old- and new-business agenda items.
