Selectmen hear updates on roadwork, new fire truck, Lobster Festival and floats; resident asks about sinking fund and water/sewer authority

The Fire Chief/Road Commissioner reported that Summer Harbor Road should be completed by the beginning of next week. The minutes list a fire truck update stating the new truck "has been ordered and is now in the process to be lettered, it will be delivered the middle of August," though the minutes do not identify who provided that update. The board also signed the personnel policy.
Town Manager Sara J. Liscomb provided administrative updates: after reviewing the budget and required training she said the town cannot fund a budget committee member's class this year; Lobster Festival preparations are proceeding (including a large parade, a new car show and Friday night cornhole); she will sign paperwork and work with HCPC on a Rural Community Development Opportunity; and new floats placed in the water lack sufficient flotation and M. Young will inspect them.
During public comment, J. Jacobs asked where the fire department sinking fund had gone and asked whether the town attorney had stated that the board could not take any action regarding water and sewer. The minutes record the question but do not include an answer in these lines.
The police quarterly report and an MOU with the Gouldsboro Fire Department were listed as informational items. The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
