Whiting selectmen discuss preservation of historic town map and interim trash-payment plan

Selectman Steve Pressley Sr. said he would retrieve the map and get it to an appropriate custodian.
Mary-Alice, speaking for the local historical society, described the group’s mission to acquire and protect old documents and maps and said the society wants custody of the map and would consider hanging it in the UMH (abbreviation used in the minutes; full name was not specified in the record).
Janice Bronson reported she had called the Marion transfer station and said that, under a prior interlocal vote, towns agreed that each town should pay for household trash brought from its own residents rather than individual customers paying at the dump. Bronson said Whiting will absorb those extra household-trash costs until the other towns vote on policy changes.
