The Westport Island Select Board approved a set of routine procedural items and several local actions at its April 14 meeting.
Opening business included approval of payroll number 88 and accounts payable number 89, and acceptance of the April 4 and April 7 minutes. The board then heard a presentation from RSU 12 Superintendent Howie Tuttle.
Under select-board business, town staff (April) reported two quotes of $225 for an ADA-accessible porta-potty rental for the upcoming town meeting. A board member moved to rent an ADA-accessible unit for the event, the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board also voted to appoint Jack Swanton as an associate member of the history committee and separately to the town property maintenance committee; members noted the appointments help ensure insurance coverage for volunteer work he has been performing. After a peer review that found no navigational hazards for an Edgecomb property, the board moved, seconded and approved granting a license to build a ramp and float at that site.
Staff announced that mooring-permit renewals are due May 1 (with a grace period), that ramps and floats at Fairy Landing have been installed, and that warrant-preview and feedback sessions will be held ahead of the town meeting (dates given: May 5, May 16 and May 22). The board adjourned at the close of the agenda.
No controversial public comments were recorded during the citizens'issues portion of the meeting in the available transcript.
