West Bath board approves 2025 budget timeline, moves second reading to April 9

The West Bath School Board approved its 2024–25 budget timeline at the Jan. 15 meeting, adjusting several dates to give the board more time to review and to ensure required hearings and warrant approvals mesh with town schedules.
Superintendent walked trustees through the proposed calendar: first reading of the budget on March 12; presentation to the budget committee March 19; workshop dates March 26 and April 2 to allow detailed line-by-line discussion; second reading and the regular board meeting moved to April 9; warrants to be approved April 16 and the town hearing set for May 22 with a public information session May 8. The board approved the timeline and retained tentative workshop placeholders to allow additional discussion if needed.
Board members noted the need to balance time for public review against compressed deadlines and confirmed that warrant approvals to the town will follow the board’s schedule. The board also moved its regular February meeting from Feb. 12 to Feb. 5, 2025, to allow earlier review of any contract items that may arise.
