Fourth-grade teacher Lorie Sawyer to retire at end of 202425 school year after 40-year career

The superintendent said Sawyer has taught for 40 years, including 35 years at West Bath, and that Sawyer prefers to wait until later in the year for a public celebration. "I've had many happy years here at WBS and I've enjoyed my teaching career immensely," the superintendent read from Sawyer's letter.
Board members expressed appreciation for Sawyer's long service and said the district will honor her later in the spring when she is ready for public recognition. No personnel decisions related to replacing the position were recorded at the meeting.
