Michael Dougherty moved to approve the employment agreement; Linda Alexson seconded and the motion passed by roll call vote, 5-0. The contract term runs from May 26, 2026, through May 26, 2029, and the chair was authorized to sign the agreement on the Board’s behalf.
Board members thanked the search committee, negotiating team and Interim Town Manager Thomas Younger for their work during the leadership transition. In remarks recorded by the Board, Younger "thanked the Board, town staff, elected officials, committee members, and residents for their support during his tenure" and encouraged Sweeney to engage with town boards and committees and to maintain strong communication with the community.
The vote followed routine procedural review of the agreement; no amendments to the contract text were recorded at the meeting. The Board noted an onboarding retreat with the incoming manager is planned for May 26 to align priorities and expectations.
The Select Board’s action is effective as of the contract start date; the Board did not record additional implementation steps or funding changes at the May 20 session.
