Board approves grant application, creates drain revolving fund and greenlights park and IT items in consent agenda

Leelanau County commissioners approved a consent agenda on Oct. 14 that bundled a series of noncontroversial administrative items, including grant applications, fund setup and small capital projects.
Notable actions in the consent agenda included authorization for the county to apply for the Marijuana Operations & Oversight Grant (MOOG) FY26 with the Cannabis Regulatory Agency and to renew a service agreement with Benzie Leelanau District Health Department should the grant be awarded. The Board also created a Drain Revolving Fund to account for certain non-petition drain maintenance and transferred $30,000 from general fund contingency as seed money.
Parks and Recreation items approved included waiving the county's three-bid policy for the Old Settlers Park gazebo refurbishment and authorizing contracts not to exceed $14,000 for roofing and painting work; and approving up to $22,000 for Myles Kimmerly Disc Golf Course upgrades. The Board also approved a one-year renewal with GEI Consultants ($15,000) for drain services and authorized Microsoft Office license upgrades (15 seats) funded from the Data Processing Fund.
These consent items passed as part of a bundled motion; commissioners removed two items for separate action (canvassers appointments and a statement release) before voting.
