The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved awarding the county’s computer network and information technology support services contract to Karhu Cyber at its Oct. 14 meeting. Administrator Dyer recommended the vendor following the RFP process and Commissioners voted to approve a three-year contract valued at $424,272, pending legal review.
Commissioner Ty Wessell moved the award and emphasized that the three-year term allows either party to terminate per contract terms. Commissioner William Bunek asked for clearer cost accounting after raising concern about how annual increases were presented in the proposed contract. Administrator Dyer responded to those inquiries during the discussion.
The contract approval authorizes the county to proceed with vendor selection subject to final contract form approval by the County Attorney. The Board recorded no dissenting votes on the motion.
The approval follows broader county IT staffing changes approved as part of the consent agenda, where the Board authorized changing a 0.6 full-time equivalent IT technician to a full-time position to support ongoing IT operations.
