Summary

The Village Board considered renewal applications for combination class A and class B fermented‑malt beverage and intoxicating liquor licenses covering July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027. Assistant Administrator and Clerk Tammy Buts told trustees that Chatters had not submitted a renewal application, and she explained legal constraints when a municipality approves a permanent premise expansion: once approved, the change cannot be unilaterally rescinded by the village.
Crow’s Nest (doing business as Iron Haven Bar & Grill) requested an expansion of its liquor premise to cover the entire parking lot. Chief Bishop and staff said the board has historically limited outdoor service to specific, front‑of‑business areas and that approving a full parking‑lot expansion would be a different and potentially irreversible action. Buts noted the business could apply for temporary premise extensions for special events, which the board could approve with time or other limitations.
Trustee Schlit moved to approve the applications as presented with the exception of denying Iron Haven’s requested parking‑lot expansion; trustees seconded and voted unanimously to approve the licenses with that exception.
Why it matters: The decision preserves trustees’ ability to control outdoor alcohol service through temporary, event‑by‑event permits while allowing most renewing businesses to continue operating under existing premises descriptions.
