Calhoun County supervisors approve drainage chemical plan, appointment and liquor-license actions; set budget hearing

The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors met at the Calhoun County Courthouse in Rockwell City on March 31 and unanimously approved several routine administrative actions, set a budget hearing and scheduled its next regular meeting.
Chairman Scott Jacobs, Vice Chairman Dave George and Member Cory Ridgely approved the board agenda and minutes from the March 24 meeting at the start of the session. The board then approved the county’s 2026 chemical treatment plan for drainage districts; Member Cory Ridgely moved the measure and Vice Chairman Dave George seconded. The plan is available for review in the Auditor’s office.
County Engineer Nick Buse presented department updates to the board; the transcript records the presentation but shows no formal action tied to the updates.
The board appointed Ronald Haden to the Calhoun County Planning and Zoning Commission and approved Resolution 2026-08 formalizing the appointment. The motion to appoint Haden was moved by Member Cory Ridgely and seconded by Vice Chairman Dave George; the board recorded a roll call vote of Ayes: George, Ridgely, Jacobs.
The supervisors approved Pat Moore applying to the DNR for a commercial dock permit, a county-required sign-off for commercial docks in residential areas. That motion was moved by Ridgely and seconded by George and passed with unanimous approval.
Acting on behalf of the Calhoun County Conference Board, the board reviewed timesheets covering Oct. 5, 2025 through March 21, 2026 for Assessor Joan Wagner; IT Director Steven Heinlen; HR Director Kristi Johnson; EMS Director Bruce Musgrave; and Director of Facilities Dewey Snyder. The board recorded approval of that review by motion.
The board approved an ownership amendment for the Rockwell City Twin Lakes Golf Club liquor license and then granted the Twin Lakes Golf Club a Class C retail alcohol license effective April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027. Both motions were approved by board vote.
Finally, the supervisors set a public hearing on the proposed 2026 budget for April 21, 2026 at 9:20 AM and adjourned the meeting, scheduling the next regular meeting for Tuesday, April 7 at 9:00 AM.
