The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors authorized purchase of a Secondary Roads sign truck and agreed to support a Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) waterway signage project at its April 14 meeting in Rockwell City.
The board approved buying a Mack Granite 42FR chassis from Rees Truck & Trailer for $139,663.94 and acquiring a box from Webster County Secondary Roads for $30,000. The motion to approve the purchase was made by Cory Ridgely and seconded by Dave George, and it passed unanimously.
Calhoun/Sac County Engineer Nick Buse and Secondary Roads Maintenance Superintendent BJ Musselman presented department updates preceding the motion. The equipment purchase was discussed as part of routine maintenance and fleet replacement planning.
In a separate motion the board approved Secondary Roads providing support for an NRCS waterway signage project. The motion was made by Ridgely, seconded by George, and passed with all supervisors voting aye.
The approvals follow staff presentations noting operational needs and planned partnership work with NRCS; the board did not specify additional funding beyond the purchase and the formal details of the NRCS support. The board took no separate vote to appropriate additional county funds for the NRCS signage project during this meeting.
