Calhoun County approves right-of-way vacation, opioid funding for school position and drainage work

At its March 10 meeting the Calhoun County Board of Supervisors took several administrative actions following routine review and a public hearing.
Vacating right-of-way: The board opened a public hearing at 9:20 a.m. to consider Resolution No. 2026-05, which would vacate a described county right-of-way. No written or oral objections were received. The board approved Resolution 2026-05 by unanimous vote.
Opioid funds allocation: The board approved a request to allocate $24,134 from Opioid Funds for a Tier 2 position at South Central Calhoun Community School District for fiscal year 2026–27. The motion was made by Supervisor Cory Ridgely and seconded by Vice Chair Dave George and passed unanimously.
Stormwater and grounds: The board approved Estimate 1021 from Hildreth Company for $6,087.96 to address stormwater drainage for Annex II. The board also approved a courthouse grounds use application from Amvets/Rockwell City Chamber & Development for an April 4 Easter egg hunt on the condition that the organization provide a certificate of liability insurance.
Drainage trustees and teleconference: The board met as Trustees for Calhoun County Drainage and held a teleconference with Pocahontas County on a 2026 aquatic vegetation spray quote for Joint Drainage District 37–35; the minutes note full details are available in the Auditor’s Office. The board then resumed regular session and held a budget workshop before adjourning and setting the next meeting for March 24, 2026 at 8:45 a.m.
