Superintendent reports CCRD compliance, athletic results and website upgrades at Hoehne board meeting

In administrative reports at the Nov. 20 meeting of the Hoehne Reorganized School District No. 3 Board of Education, Superintendent Joseph DeAngelis and Principal Yvonne Wiening gave updates on compliance, athletics, grant opportunities and school communications.
DeAngelis told the board that the CCRD review produced insufficient evidence to find the school out of compliance unless additional evidence is provided. He also reported that the district is gathering information on EPA electric school-bus grants but noted the practical challenge that there are currently no electric-bus service companies in southern Colorado, which would require travel for maintenance or service.
On athletics, the minutes record that Hoehne placed in regional volleyball and will compete at the state volleyball tournament; the football team finished as league champions but lost in Haxtun and did not advance to state playoffs. The minutes also note that Michelle Jones resigned as the high school volleyball coach.
Principal Wiening described a revamp of the school website to improve user friendliness and ensure ADA compliance. She also described student council activities: a T-shirt art contest whose winning design will be printed on shirts and sold by student council (with prize money for the contest winners) and a 'Free Birds' movie night for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
These items were provided as routine administrative updates and did not require board action. The board moved on to action items after the reports.
