Guffey Charter School board hears classroom curriculum presentations and outlines fall events

Chris Peterson called the Guffey Community Charter School Board meeting to order at 4:06 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2024, where teachers and students presented the current curriculum for each of the school’s three classrooms.
Teachers identified in the minutes — Ms. Shawna (K–2), Ms. Mac (3–5) and Ms. Amy (6–8) — led presentations showing what students are learning. Families and community members were invited to observe the classroom demonstrations and later joined staff in the multi-purpose room for refreshments and fellowship.
Dean Wilson joined the meeting during community linkage updates and the board reported several recent and upcoming community activities. The board said the first fire drill on Sept. 17 “went well” and noted another drill scheduled for the end of the month. The Guffey Clean-up was described as a success, and 4 Mile Church donated kitchen items, coats and other supplies to the school.
The board announced an Oct. 17 field trip to Colon Orchard and a Schools to Pasture learning experience at La Dolce Vita Ranch on Oct. 24. Kelli circulated a flier for a Halloween parade scheduled for Oct. 31 at 1:30 p.m. and a related Trunk or Treat event.
The meeting adjourned at 5:14 p.m.
