Garfield County School District No. 16 adopts updated graduation, safety and student conduct policies

The Garfield County School District No. 16 Board of Directors voted unanimously Oct. 8 to adopt a package of updated policies covering graduation requirements, student dress, bullying prevention and crisis management.
The action came after Superintendent Dr. Jennifer A. Baugh presented the policies for second reading and final vote. Brent Baker moved to adopt the policies and Kimberly S. Whelan seconded; the motion passed on a roll call vote with Baker, Keith Gronewoller, Samuel W. Stewart, Vincent T. Tomasulo and Whelan voting aye.
The adopted items included changes identified on the agenda as: ACA Name Changes; IKF Graduation Requirements; IKFB Graduation Exercises; IKF-E Graduation Requirements Chart of Approved Measures and Cut Scores for Graduation; JICA Student Dress Code; JICDE Bullying Prevention and Education and related investigation form JICDE-E-2; JIH Student Interviews, Interrogations, Searches and Arrests; JLCE First Aid and Emergency Medical Care; and KDE Crisis Management.
Board members did not record any votes against the measure. The board clerk will incorporate the new and revised policies into the district policy manual and post them with routine minutes and supporting documents at the district office.
The board took the vote as a grouped final action; administrators did not propose amendments during the session. The policies take effect per district procedures and will be available with the board records at 0460 Stone Quarry Road in Parachute.
