The Garfield County School District No. 16 Board of Directors on Feb. 10 adopted a package of policy updates on second reading that affect graduation requirements and instructional material selection.
Superintendent Dr. Jennifer A. Baugh presented the policies for a final vote. The policies approved on second reading and final vote included IKF-E (Graduation Requirements), IJ (Instructional Materials Selection and Adoption), KEC (Public Concerns about Instructional Materials) and IJL (Library Resource Selection, Adoption, and Reconsideration). The board approved the policy package by roll-call vote with all five board members recorded as voting "aye."
Minutes note there was a brief discussion and questions were addressed before the vote, but they do not record extended debate or amendments on the floor.
The board's action completes the formal revision process for the listed policies; the policies as adopted will be incorporated into district policy documents and posted with the district's records.
