Garfield 16 board approves preliminary FY2025 audit, $80,490 Chromebook purchase and $30,000 grant application

The Garfield County School District No. 16 Board of Directors on Feb. 10 authorized the preliminary District Audit Report for fiscal year 2025 and approved related financial actions, including a technology purchase and a $30,000 grant application.
The action items were presented by Chelsey Gerard, chief financial officer, and Nathan A. Humphrey, director of operations and innovation. The board voted on each item by roll call; membership recorded as Brent Baker, Keith Gronewoller, Hunter Long, Samuel W. Stewart and Board President Vincent T. Tomasulo voted "aye" on each measure.
On the audit, Gerard presented the preliminary report from McMahan and Associates, L.L.C.; the board moved to authorize the report as presented and approved the motion unanimously. The board also approved the Colorado Department of Education assurances for financial accreditation for FY2025.
On technology, Nathan Humphrey recommended purchasing Chromebooks to support district computing needs. The board approved a purchase order to CDWG for $80,490.00. The minutes record the motion and a unanimous roll-call vote in favor.
Superintendent Dr. Jennifer A. Baugh asked the board to authorize submission of a Federal Mineral Lease District mini grant application for $30,000; the board approved the resolution to apply for the mini grant. The board also accepted a donated vehicle from the Grand Valley Fire Protection District to be used for the district's Outdoor Education Program.
Each of the above motions was approved on a roll-call vote with no recorded dissents. The minutes note brief discussion and questions on the items but do not record extended debate or conditions attached to the approvals.
District staff also noted that supporting documents for these actions are available for public review at the District Administration Office at 0460 Stone Quarry Road in Parachute, Colorado.
