Council approves bar 'all‑nighters,' catering and liquor transfer; park skate‑park idea deferred amid noise/liability concerns

Afton — At the July 11 meeting the Afton Town Council approved several event and liquor requests and heard divided views about potential recreational changes at Star View Park.
Sandy Peavler, representing Colter's Lodge Bar, and Tammy Thompson, representing Tailgaterz, requested 'all nighter' permits for listed dates in 2017 and Tailgaterz requested permission to remain open until midnight for the Super Bowl in February 2018. The council accepted the applications and approved the extended hours.
Sierra Mitchell, assisting the Wyoming Air Operators Association, briefed the council on a September convention and Mayor Joel Neuenschwander presented a catering permit application from C & G, LLC to serve alcohol at fixed stations at the Afton Golf Course and at the Afton Civic Center on specified dates; the council approved the permit. The council also approved C & G, LLC's application to transfer the retail liquor license for AJ's Discount Liquor to a new location at 295 N. Washington Street; the minutes note Wyoming Liquor Division approval.
Rob Holland, representing the Afton Fire Department, requested a limited malt beverage permit for the Annual Afton Fireman Golf Tournament (Aug. 27); the council approved the request.
Separately, Town Administrator Jonathan Teichert raised the possibility of converting the Star View Park tennis court for pickleball or using it as the site for a skate park. Alan Stauffer voiced concerns that a skate park would generate noise and liability issues and noted that families with young children use the park. Curtis Cleverly said his organization is researching liability matters and would propose set times for users. The council deferred further action pending additional research and public input.
